After 25 years in the corporate world, I decided to give it all up and work with animals which is where my heart lies.
I was brought up surrounded by dogs, mainly through my Grandad and Mum who both carry a passion for them. My mother has given a home to several rescue dogs who have not got off to a good start in life but have been abandoned or badly mistreated (something that breaks my heart). My mum now has a dog called Daisy who was found wandering the streets in a very poorly condition; suffice to say she now lives like a Queen.
I personally have rescued four dogs (including three Golden Retrievers) and now have a Springer Spaniel called Maizy. I lost Lucy in December 2011 through cancer. Ten months later in October 2012 her sister Anna passed away. In between I got Lilly (left) but sadly (with a big lump in my throat) I lost her last July 2016. She was 13 years young. There’s not a day that passes by when I don’t think of her.
For many years I regularly sponsor the WWF, RSPCA, PDSA and the Dogs Trust and occasionally donate to small independent animal rescue centres which attract less funding than the larger well known charities. Of course at Christmas time they all get an extra treat.
My goal is to care for and treat all the animals as if they were my own. I am a Kennel Assistant working seasonally at the local Boarding Kennels and Cattery in Chinnor Hills and work Part Time as a Patient Care Assistant in a local Veterinary Hospital.
I am currently studying through the British College of Canines, am canine first aid trained and fully insured.
